About Us

Camping on a farm in Sussex

A beautiful fifth generation working farm nestled in the heart of the West Sussex Countryside.  Set in 60 acres of wild-flower meadows, surrounded by ancient woodland. The wildflower meadows produce gorgeous hay and there is a small fold consisting of three Highland Heifers a Highland Bull and calves as well as pigs, pygmy goats and chickens.  There is a plethora of local wildlife including resident deer, buzzards, tawny owls, woodpeckers and red kites, to name but a few.  There are numerous public footpaths and bridleways close by and the farm is flanked by award winning local vineyards, country pubs and quaint villages – what better place to come to relax and unwind?

Our tent and Campervan Pitches occupy a 5 acre wild-flower meadow.  Pitches are pre-allocated and you can choose where you would  like to be position on booking.  Each pitch is for one tent or camper van. The price is inclusive of 2 adults and any additional persons are subject to a further charge. Fire pits and crates of logs can be booked per-night as required.

Testimonials

We had THE most wonderful holiday at Cattlestone Farm!

A real hidden gem! We can’t ever imagine camping anywhere else now! Alan and Donna the owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble. The facilities were absolutely immaculate and well maintained! The animals were an absolute joy to meet. Gin and Tonic have a very special place in our hearts along with Jackson the dog! It was by far the best holiday we have ever had as a family. Our three tech addicted teenagers we were so concerned would be bored, loved every minute of their stay without their devices! They played games, swam in the clay pool and sat under the stars talking, it was so incredible to see! We will definitely be back next year, we didn’t want to leave!

We had the best time at Cattlestone Farm!

It was our first camping trip with our 3 year old and it couldn’t have gone better! He loved every minute of it! He particularly loved the two little goats Gin and Tonic and the dog Jackson who followed the amazing host Donna around wherever she went! Donna and Alan were so warm and welcoming from the very start – they were always around for anything campers might need and were always ready and willing to go the extra mile. The camp site was large and never overcrowded which was perfect so there was plenty of room for the children to play safely and the loo/shower blocks were always available. They were also spotlessly clean! We will absolutely be going back again next year – and hopefully more years to come after that! Thank you so much Donna and Alan and see you next year!

It was a lovely little campsite the owners/workers are always around if you need anything.

They had the best kept toilets and showers I have ever seen for a camp site. Even on the Saturday night when they were fully booked everyone still had so much space around them no one was on top of you. Our kids had the most amazing time thank you

Beautiful campsite with fantastic facilities

The bell tent had everything you could require, tea and coffee making facilities with different teas and coffees which was a lovely touch. Alan and Donna were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Our girls had the best time here playing with the goats, meeting the pigs, chickens and cows. Private toilet and showers were spotless, there was so much space to run about and the glamping tents were spaced perfectly to give privacy.
We will most definitely return, and it sounds like there are some exciting plans in the future for this beautiful boutique campsite
Thank you Donna and Alan and your family for your hospitality absolutely 5*

Lovely views, very clean showers and toilets.

Lovely views, very clean showers and toilets. Loved everything about the site. Owners were great . My children loved the goats and cows.
Could pitch up where you wanted with plenty of space. Nice that no cars to be on the field

Loved how peaceful and quiet this site was.

The facilities are brilliant, great showers and spotless flushing toilets. You can see the care gone into making this site welcoming and well equipped. The owners were so nice: helpful and came to check we were ok. We liked the fact you couldn’t take your cars into the field as it added to the peace and safety. There are multiple trolleys that make taking your equipment over easy.

Facilities second to none. Consistently immaculate!

Loved absolutely everything. Hosts were laid back, welcoming and friendly and genuinely keen for everyone to enjoy their stay. Loads of space to spread out. Great idea to limit vehicles on site. Added to the wild camping feel. Footpaths from the site. Would recommend for anyone. Book now!

Liked: We absolutely loved everything about this place. The luxury Sunrise Shepherds Hut had everything you could want for a tranquil and peaceful stay. Birds singing, deer in the field in the morning, a relaxing outside bath, hot shower, dressing gown and slippers provided. Our host Donna was so friendly and she catered for all our needs, providing us with a delicious vegan cake, oat milk, bread, eggs and a wonderful bottle of bubbly. The Sunrise Shepherds Hut was warm and cozy, the king-size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets was amazingly comfortable. Even though we had foul wet weather it couldn't spoil the couple of days we spent here. We highly recommend a stay at in one of the Shepherds Huts provided at Cattlestone Farm, you won't regret it. Looking forward to booking a stay here again, Carol & Pete. Disliked: There was nothing we disliked.

Liked: What a great little campsite! It's a simple field, with well maintained toilets and showers, covered ot wash area with 2 sinks and a couple of water taps. The staff were lovely. There's a wee white van that drives around between 5 and 6 in the afternoon offering fire bowels and firewood (I didn't need any as I just stayed the night for work in the area). For those that need to know, they were happy with my RTT, I just ed it as a campervan and had no issues. I will definitely return with the family soon.

Location & Nearby Attractions

Parks & Local Interest

Cattlestone Farm is situated close to the South Downs National Park which is only a 10 minute drive away. Knepp Estate – re-wilding project is on the doorstep. Arundel historic town is just 20 minutes away where you can explore it’s historic castle with beautiful tudor boutique and antique shops together with plenty of tea rooms. Petworth, Midhurst, Chichester, Horsham, Worthing and Brighton are also easily accessible and will provide you with plenty to do and explore.

Pubs

There are plenty of traditional country pubs in the area, most of which offer locally sourced high quality food and drink.

We would highly recommend the Selsey Arms at Coolham, The Rising Sun at Nutbourne, The Queen’s Head in West Chiltington, The White Lion at Thakeham and The Red Lion in Ashingtion.  The Blacksmith Arms at Adversane serves a lovely Italian and will also deliver.  If you are happy to venture a little further afield then The Sportsman at Amberley has lovely views over the Brooks.

Restaurants

You are also spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants and we would be happy to offer recommendations.  We would highly recommend The Countryman at Shipley especially if you are a lover of fish and seafood.

Bars & Lounges

The local villages and towns all have places you can eat and drink. Please see our visitor books for the ones found best and recommended.

Shows & Entertainment

Brighton and Crawley have the big name shows. The little villages have good am-dram performances too. Check our what’s on visitor guide when you arrive.

Biking & Hiking
We have some bikes, but you are best bringing your own. There are bikes for Hire in Storrington and Southwater.
Wine - Vineyards

We have two Vineyards on our doorstep (Nyetimber and Kinsbrook). Nyetimber sits at the top of the hill behind woodland at the back the farm and Kinsbrook offers wine tours and tasting together with a cafe.  If you would rather walk to a vineyard, then we would suggest Nutbourne as an option as this can be accessed directly from the farm via public footpaths and will take around 40 minutes.

Visiting Therapist

We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Kelly from Revive Therapy who has devised a Treatment List especially for our guests.  Should you wish to take the opportunity to have a relaxing facial, massage or other treatment whilst you are here, please ask and I will send you through a copy together with prices and availability.

Please do not just turn up! We have security gates we lock and specific times we allow access.

The access road is a turning off Harbolets Road, end of straight stretch of highway if heading West and just after the bend if heading East. Please be careful entering and leaving.

Entrance to the farm drive is on what3words  'gear.fever.tadpole'.
